Born in Trabzon, Tayfun Pirselimo?lu graduated from the Middle East Technical University before leaving for Vienna where he studied painting at the Hochschule für Angewandte Kunst. He held various exhibitions in different cities of the world, including Vienna, Istanbul and Ankara and is one of the founders of the independent art initiative of Akademie Genius. He started his film career as a script writer before directing his first short film My Uncle in 1999 and then Silence is Golden in 2002. The same year, he also shot In Nowhereland, his first feature film, before Riza (2007) and then Haze (2010). His last film, Hair (Saç, is his fourth feature.

Tayfun Pirselimo?lu nasce a Trabzon, in Turchia. Diplomatosi al Politecnico mediorientale, si trasferisce a Vienna e studia pittura alla Hochschule für Angewandte Kunst, esponendo successivamente in varie città, tra cui Vienna, Istanbul e Ankara. È uno dei fondatori dell'iniziativa artistica indipendente Akademie Genius. Si avvia alla carriera cinematografica come sceneggiatore, per passare alla regia con Dayim (My Uncle, 1999) e Il silenzio è d'oro (2002), due cortometraggi. Sempre nel 2002 firma il suo primo lungometraggio, Hiçbiryerde (In Nowhereland), seguito da Riza (2007) e Pus (Haze, 2010). Saç è il suo quarto lungometraggio.
