Newly liberated, with productive farms and an education system the envy of its neighbours - time was that Zimbabwe was a land of plenty. But, within one person's childhood, this changed.
The last of her family to leave, Chipfupa returns and, guided by her father, via telephone from England, and a box of old photos, she searches for the substance of her memories, or were they just dreams?
Hers is a unique perspective: as the child of a middle class African family, she provides us a startling view of the dissolution and destruction, of what happens when liberators are afforded endless reign.
Exile is a country South Africans know too well. This is a story of remembrance and a reminder to guard fiercely the freedom that was fought for so courageously and for so long, as freedom is not guaranteed and may be fleeting.
